The Safari
A regenerative journey for the mind, body and environment.
The route
From her home berth in Krabi we sail through the Krabi river estuary system, a pristine labyrinthine of rivers and mangrove islands. The area is a designated Ramsar site and haven for wildlife. The island of Koh Yao Noi is our next destination. Multiple sustainable tourism ventures and regenerative eco-project have started on the island. Koh Yao Noi becomes our base for the northern region of the trip.
On the third day we turn our bows south and head down the coast and out towards Hat Noppharet Thara - Phi Phi National park. We snorkel and dive on reefs at Bamboo Island, Koh Phi Phi and Koh Bida.
For the last part of the trip we head to Koh Lanta, which is another Marine Protected Area with white sand beaches, deep blue water and further offshore tropical coral reefs. This area has possible sightings of whale sharks and manta rays during the months the Safari runs.
"To board the yacht each day and sail out to the islands for different adventure was an unforgettable experience. Every evening, we all discussed the next day's route, and the kids would hardly sleep in anticipation. After many land-based African safari's this sailing safari in tropical Asia was unforgettable. Thank you". Henry.
The projects
In the Northern part of the journey, we check on different locations of internationally important sea grass meadows and their monitoring projects for conservation.
The second regeneration project we check is the restoration of damaged coral reefs in Hat Noppharet Thara - Phi Phi National Park. We meet with the team leaders of the Ocean Quest Global who are at the fore front of the coral propagation efforts in the area.
Next, we take a closer look at some of the community led conservation projects and meet the leaders of new eco-tourism and conservation ventures. All of the projects are sponsored by the trips through donations and vessel support to the organizations involved. Including community conservation education, connection and involvement initiatives.
The over-night stays
All the overnight stays are in special selected luxury eco-resorts, most with their own community conservation intiatives. They are all genuine boutique resorts, with many having below ten rooms, luxury tents or villas. All of the resorts are well known to us, and the level of service is first class.
